20 years ago I was born in the small town of Sommelsdijk, far away from Utrecht. I started in 2015 with the study Biomedical Sciences because I was really interested in the subject of biology in high school, and then particularily the biology of the human body. I chose for the Univertity of Utrecht becuase it had very high ratings, and Utrecht seemed like a very nice place to live. Last year i started at the Honours Program because I was seeking extra challenges, and i did certainly find them, in part by becoming vice-president of the foundation. Besides this, im also active in the student organisation Mebiose, and im a member of the Year Representatives.

When I do something, I like to do it right. This also explains my interest in the BMW Honours Programme. My ambitions are to obtain as much knowledge, and practise as many practical skills as I can. Of course I also want to share this knowledge and learn how to properly communicate it to others. I very much enjoy doubting everything I could do, but when I have finally made a well-thought-through decision, I will put my heart in it. Just as I give my all for every other decision, in sports, music and private, I have made.

My ambition to make a change in the biomedical field started when I was a little kid, in the small town Woudrichem, located in the Netherlands. At elementary school I used to ask microscopes for my birthday, under which I would study my own bloodcells. Since I started Biomedical Sciences on the University of Utrecht, my curiosity and ambition to make a real change with my interests in science, philosophy and society has grown. My eagerness to learn has driven me to start the Honours Programm in my second year. Currently, I execute the function of secretary on the board. Besides my education I am an active member in various committees of the student organisation M.B.V. Mebiose, I play korfball three times a week and I am a member of the U.S.R. "Triton".

When I was young, I already knew I wanted to study something medical. I wanted to make a cure for rare diseases. After biology in high school, I knew I wanted to study Biomedical Sciences. After a few years of work, I started this study. I joined the Honours Programme of my study, because it offers a lot of opportunities and possibilities to develop myself. Joining the board is one example. Within this Honours programme, I will try my best to have a lot of fun and informative activities.
